What is in a name, perhaps quite a bit.
This week, I have been thinking about names. Men's names seem to me to be generic, bringing nothing to mind but a persons face, if you know anyone by that name. The Robert, Donald, William or Charles names do not conjure up much but a face.
women's names, however, bring sights, sounds, feelings and smells. The 5 senses and more are heightened and brightened by some of these women's names. Rose brings a picture of a beautiful delicate flower. I can smell the wonderful aroma and feel the soft petals on my fingers.
Gail fills my mind with an ocean view. I feel the salty cold foam of the sea splashing my face as I hear the thunder of the waves galloping on shore. I smell the salty brine air and feel the wind in my hair. I see the clouds dancing across the sky.
Carol brings to my ears sweet little children singing lovely songs. I feel cold snow flakes touch my face and taste hot apple cider laced with cinnamon upon my lips.
Charity fills me with feelings of love, given freely and without conditions. I see friendly faces, full of happiness and sweet caring.
Grace reminds me of Gods special love for us. I feel his arms around me, his faithfulness toward me when I hear that name. I have an overwhelming sense of peace when the name Grace spoken.
So many women's names start pictures in my mind. Woman may have been made second after Adam, but nothing thrills my heart like the touch, the smell, the feel, the sounds and sight of a woman. Thank you for being different.
